| Judicial Alternatives Sculpture Workshops as Community Service Lyon - France
Banlieues d’Europe presented the 10th Rendezvous at 6 pm on Monday 28 September 2009, centred on the theme of "Judicial Alternatives/Sculpture Workshops as Community Service" with Daniel Rottner, Director the Falkenheim Gallus Cultural Centre, Frankfurt, Germany. Since 1990 the Falkenheim Gallus Cultural Centre has been working with a community composed of multicultural inhabitants and/or people in difficulty in Frankfurt. In the framework of its activities, Falkenheim Gallus provides an Insertion and Sculpture Workshop “Bildhauerwerkstatt Gallus” for young people remanded in custody, outside the prison environment and accompanied by professional sculptors. This project, which is today the objective of much identification and receives support from the town, has existed for the last fifteen years and enables the measurement of impact and effects on the participants, on the neighbourhood and the town. Several exhibitions of objects realized have provided an opportunity for comparison with productions realized in the contemporary art world.
